The US Embassy is Estonia is announcing the Fulbright Graduate Student Program competition in the United States for the 2011-2012 academic year. Scholarships are subject to the availability of funds.
The Fulbright Graduate Student Program offers one-year grants for Estonians who intend to enter graduate degree programs (Master's, Doctoral) at US universities in any field except medical studies.
Please note, that once you have been recommended for a grant, IIE in cooperation with the US Embassy will assign you a placement coordinator, who will be responsible for applying to universities and managing the application process on your behalf. You do not need to contact universities, nor should you send applications or supporting documents to universities. Eligibility requirements:
- You must be Estonian citizen;
- By the spring of 2011, you must have obtained a 4-year Bachelor's degree, or have completed the first year of your Master's program after a 3-year Bachelor's program;
- Your US studies must be in your previous field of studies;
- You must have clearly defined study goals and career objectives:
- You must have an excellent academic record and a knowledge of English appropriate for studying in the US;
- Preferred candidates should have not studied or lived more than six months in the United States;
- Preferred candidates will have to be ready to take relevant admission tests for US university programs (TOEFEL, GRE, GMAT) shortly after the completion of a successful interview at the US Embassy, Tallinn. For successful candidates the test vouchers for some tests will be provided.
Disqualification factors:
- Individuals with extensive educational experience abroad;
- Applicants already studying in the US.
The closing date for submission of applications (please note: medical forms and tests are not required with the application) is Sunday, 15th of August 2010.

After filling in the online application, please also submit a paper copy of the application, together with other related documents, to the US Embassy, Kentmanni 20, 15099, Tallinn. Finalists will be interviewed in September 2010 by a bi-national (American-Estonian) Fulbright Committee.
