Janssen Healthcare Innovation is pleased to announce the first ever JHI Connected Care Challenge Europe - a start-up and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Challenge with three unique categories to spur innovation and drive action towards achieving better care and better health at lower cost through continuous improvement. We know greatness is achieved when we work together, and we are committed to playing a pivotal role in invigorating the marketplace of ideas.Janssen Healthcare Innovation (JHI) is a newly established team within the Janssen Research & Development, LLC. We are expanding the company's offerings of healthcare services and solutions by acquiring companies and programs, and establishing partnerships and collaborations both internally and externally. Our goal is to empower healthcare consumers and modernize healthcare delivery.
The objectives of the Challenge are
1. Highlight innovative tech-enabled solutions with the potential to dramatically increase the quality and effectiveness of care in relevant areas.
2. Demonstrate successful and scalable partnership models that improve the quality of care for patients/consumers.
3. Create strong and distributable learnings that can be leveraged broadly beyond the organizations involved.
The selected categories for the challenge are technology-enabled self-care, transitioning care from the clinical environment to the home, and solutions that increase medication adherence.
The criteria used to select the winners will be the level of technology and/or service innovation and the potential impact the product or service could have in the healthcare marketplace.
We will award prizes to entrepreneurs with the best solutions for these categories. Submissions will be reviewed, and a number of participants will be invited to participate in the Challenge Final. At the Final, a panel of distinguished visionaries and practitioners in the areas of innovation, technology, care transitions and healthcare will select the winners. Check the Challenge procedure.
Apart from wide dissemination for visibility, the Janssen Healthcare Innovation team will provide the winners mentorship and support to further advance commercial development of the best ideas that address our challenge.
Participants need to be an SME located in Europe. Their technology needs to be implemented in at least a trial phase in a healthcare organization, if a product; or have already several users, if a service or app. See the rules for details.
The challenge Final will take place in Berlin on the 5th of November 2012 (Monday). It will take place in connection with the Health 2.0 Europe Conference. Challenge followers that fit into the start-up category can use the JHICHAL code to register with a 30% discount.
